Drug test for welfare recipients

If you test an elected official an they test positive for pot what do you plan to do?

Well, if it was MY choice. They would lose their position, effective immediately..

But alas, *sigh*, thats not what would happen. See, the govt (i.e. meaning us taxpayer would have to pay for it) would pay to have them sent to a rehab,.. they would be coddeled and given back their position.. with no real repercussions.
After all, drug addiction is a "disease"... they cant help it...blah, blah, blah,..
Thats what would really happen.. :/

Provide it as evidence to decriminalize it already -- it's really ridiculous that we need "government interference" in this aspect of life, especially since the drug war is expensive, unending, and is responsible for the bulk of our prison population. I don't like pot, myself, but I don't think that gives me the right to tell other people they can't use it in their own homes. And any kind of prohibition is such a breeding ground for corruption. Where I work, there's a special "pharmacist" who makes deliveries...in his squad car.

Prohibition does nothing but take money from corporations and puts it in the hands of organized crime.

And organized crime arises whenever something is desired by consumers but prohibited from legal commerce.

An you would have just broken the democratic proses. Each rep is there to vote on behalf of there part of the country. They could very well have been elected cause they smoke pot. Weed smokers have every right to vote for an elect people that are like them so they can have there voice heard.

Like i said,..if it was up to ME..
Which it isnt.. :rant :p

If you are a criminal, have criminal charges against you for doing something illegal.. (i.e. drugs that are illegal)
Then you should lose your right to represent the people..
Just my opinion..
You dont have to vote for me or nuttin'.. :D

There is no legal law banning drugs... My understanding is that pot is legal in most states. An the states removed the governments power of prohibition with the 21 amendment to the constitution...

You also can not give one side of a political issue the authority to remove the other side from office. The only people that should ever have the right to remove there elected rep is the people that elected them.

Hows it legal when its illegal??
If you get caught with a bag of weed you are catching a charge.. unless you get a snazzy lawyer to get the charges dismissed,.. and depending on the amount you have on you...
Also if its rolled up in joints or in seperate baggies, thats a selling charge too...

But as for failing a drug test,.. no its not "illegal",... but it sure can get your butt fired from a job real quick. Which is what i would want to happen to them..

ETA: Wait,... are you telling me that pot is legal in Georgia?(it might be, i honestly dont know..) If you get pulled over by a cop and you're smoking a joint,..its all good?
I can see the flocks fo folks moving there if it is.....

The law banning pot is a federal law. The fed does not have the power to make that law. They only have the power to make it illegal to transport pot across state lines.

As for firing them, you have the power to fire your congressman, senator an the president for any reason you want. But not the other congressman an senators. They don't work for you.
