Drumstick Culled his first roo

I think it's great that you are teaching him this young and it will be something that you and he can do together. It's such an important thing to have something that both of you are interested in. He is such a lucky boy to have a dad like you!!

It's tough for anyone who works with poultry to do that. He is a brave guy!

I watched my grandfather cut the head off a chicken when I was about 3. It is one of my first memories. I remember laughing as it ran around with no head. Then I had the job of plucking it.

Good times.

Thanks again to everyone for those wonderful and encouraging responses. You have
all blown me away. I was feeling like I may have done some kind of damage to him
by letting him do it. It seems that even as him and I discuss it today he is fine with it.
He even asked if I wanted to do another one because it's not fair that I'm always the
one to swing the hatchet and now he can do it to help me. I am so blessed.

MissPrissy, Thanks for acknowelging my wife. She is very supportive of this even though
she never experienced anything like it herself. Luckily she works wit a few girls from
Russia and Asia that grew up raising chicken as food and talk to her about it. We make
sure those girls always have fresh eggs.

Seachick, The thankfulness and understanding that it is a life is so important and your
daughter sounds like she has that same thankfulness my son has. These kids amaze
me.
