I seen a video on utube where a lady could not find high protein feed for her quail. She used dry cat food ground up fine it was 30% protein. Has anyone else tried this? She said the birds liked it.

Cat food has way too much salt to feed on a regular basis. It is good as a booster treat during molting but not to be fed on a regular basis. There is another ingredient in it that I can't remember the name of that can be toxic to poultry if they eat it continuously. A small amount occasionally is fine...not a daily thing.

Thanks for your reply. I think I will avoid cat food no sense in taking any unnecessary chances.

my cats would be so ****** off at me if they saw me giving their food to birds! plus it would be relatively expensive to do daily
