Hi all

I’m about to attempt my first ‘dry hatch’ with some trepidation after many many people have suggested it.
My question though... everything I’ve read tells you what to do with the humidity but I can’t find anything to tell me what to do with the ventilation slider on our Brinsea 40?

Thankyou in advance 😊

Ventilation is required whether dry hatch or not. I don't know about that incubator in particular, but I know with others it says to remove the red plugs (Little Giant) on day 10 and leave them off for the remainder of the hatch.

For the Nurture Right 360 it says to fully open the slider wheel on lockdown, day 18 until the remainder of the hatch.

Ventilation is required to get fresh clean air circulating in the incubator.

Thankyou Hysop

Ordinarily with this incubator it says to have the vent 2/3 open days 1-18 then from lockdown to change it to 1/3 ventilation tomallow the humidity increase presumably. Do you think I should do exactly the same?

Thanks again 😊

Oh wow the instructions say that?

I've never used one so I don't know.

If that's what the instructions suggest I would follow them and then after your first or second hatch start making adjustments as you see fit.

Will this be your first batch?

Thankyou

No this will be our fourth hatch with this incubator. Does that sound incorrect in principle? Do you do more or less ventilation generally?

I assumed they needed more ventilation as they grew older in their shell, but if it has worked following the instructions with your incubator then why fix it?

Oh cool! And have you been getting good hatch rates?
