Dry incubation of quail eggs

Hello, I have not had my button Quail very long and my hen is a good layer but she seems to stop being Brody with them after 10 days. I tried putting them in the incubator but nothing hatched. I tried to candle them but I couldn't see thru the eggs they are a green/blue. The float test? None sank but no vigorous movement. I have seen them mate. So in other words I don't know much. I would wait a bit longer as long as there is no smell. Best wishes!

Thankyou for your reply. How long should i wait until i stop incubating them? They dont smell. They have never been under a hen. Always in the incubator. Im afraid if they hatch late they will have problems. Dont know how long to wait. Since they basically are in lockdown im afraid to handle them.

Nearly a week over due, I'd say they aren't going to hatch but in case you miss calculated when you set them, I might give'em another day, just for my own peace of mind.

Candle them to see if you can see what's going on. Live eggs will look dark and if they are near hatching the air cell will slope to one side, eggs that have died late in incubation will be dark with a pale gap under the air cell with no veins visible. If they have pipped internally you will see their little shadows in the air cells. Too low a temperature can set them back quite a bit. I know in cooler weather outside they take longer to hatch under their mothers.

I was thinking of trying to make a small home made incubator to put them in as they only had a few days to go.

I made a homemade still air incubator and I'm currently incubating some Coturnix Quail eggs (this is my second time, the first time I had a humidity and temp issue) and the incubator is working perfectly!!! I suggest you at least try to make one...i hope they hatch!!

Is it normal for them to move them all over the place?
