I’d also add that all egg shells are NOT created equal. Higher shell porosity = higher moisture loss. Same with thin shells.

I started weighing eggs and getting 100% hatch rates on silkies with a 12-14% weight loss by hatch with humidity around 50% days 1-17 and 70-75% at lockdown.

I lock my chicks down, but they always wiggle out of the chains.
 
I’ve done dried incubation before, and my hatch rate was twice a good as with wet. Trying again now, will see what happens!!!
