Dry Incubation!

Yes I have read about dry incubating and in my opinion I think it sounds awesome!

I will try it and see how well it works in Spring, Never really hatched before, so I'm excited about using the new homemade styro-bator!

I have a humidifier running as it is very dry climate here. Went from 22 to 50 in the room. If you don't want to run one you could put a couple pots of water by the heat registers or just in the room will help.


Isn't it pretty humid in Port orchard ?

the room humidity is best at 50%. I run a humdifier and on last hatch only had to add a teapoon full of water once before day 18. It will vary but if you keep your room stable the moisture from your room goes into the bator.

Well folks, it pleases me so to see this type of response to my post. I am by no means a genius when it comes to trying to mimic mother nature, but this method is logical and does work. Jamie821 has responded well with the same advice that I would have given to the questions ask, so I see no need to add to it. However, I can say something that has not been said. The humidifer in the room is not only good for the incubation process, but it is good for you too! A win win cituation! All of you take care and keep us posted on your hatches.

Thanks Wheaties ! I am hoping for my eggs to get here tomorrow and the room is at 70 degrees and 50% hum.Bator ar 99 to 100 mostly 99. IM excited for this first hatch but a little nervous.

chicken woman your set up sounds good just follow instruction from Worrell. Remember not to open bator the last days for hatching . this was the hardest thing I had to keep myself from doing. I was a total wreck at first and just knew that a chick shouldnt pip and just lay there for over twenty four hours.But they do to absorb their blood and yolk they know when they are ready but sure is hard to understand that on our part we just know something is wrong and sometimes there is. A weak or deformed chick wont make it but even if you help most of the time they wont anyways. So just sit on your hands personally I handcuff mine.
