dry looking comb should I worry?

two of my pullets one is a production red and one is a buff orp., they are 19 weeks old. They have not laid yet. Their combs seem to be dry and a little pale not as red and growing like their flock mates the same age. I am trying to find info on this but not having much luck. Any ideas?

I think that shortly before they start to lay you will see red, healthy combs. If not, a bit of vaseline gently rubbed in and not left on the surface to collect dust, would assist- but I think what seems abnormal at this time is probably all right.

I know this is an old post, but I have the same problem with my RIR. Was this particular mystery solved?
