Dry Skin?

I noticed dandruff type stuff on the chair where my chickens were sitting, and was curious if this was dry skin? They don't have lice or mites, just checked all of them thoroughly. No ill signs, they are all acting fine. Do chickens get dry skin when the weather is hot and dry?

Mine do the same, I cant figure out why. They are 12 weeks old.

I went on chat and somebody mentioned that they might be molting. Most birds shed a sluff sort of thing when they drop feathers and molt. My girls are 15 weeks old and I have noticed new feathers growing in. Perhaps it's the same with you own birds?

It seems harmless though

I had this same question early on when I saw what looked like dandruff on my girls. It is actually the covering coming off the new feathers that are growing in. I looked closely at my birds and yes, that what it is. Gotta love byc for answers! Anyways, my girls are almost 15 weeks and still have feathers coming in so they always look like they have dry skin/ dandruff going on. No worries. Its normal.
