My house dryer vent vents near the coop. Is this acceptable? And if not should I put up something in front of the coop?

! Pleased you joined our community! I really don't know the harm. When you say 'near' how many feet are we talking? Not that I would know the "right" distance, but I really don't see how this would hurt them. Others may have different opinions. Thanks for joining BYC!

Now and then dryer vents spit out lint. I don't know if it would hurt chickens if they ate any or not. I would suppose it wouldn't go down their throats. But who knows chickens are weird - they love things like styrofoam, insulation etc.

I was thinking the moisture that comes with the air might bother them. It's on about 5 feet away.

Welcome!

Good question! No idea on the right answer! It might increase the humidity which, depending on your climate, you do not want

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
