what is dry hatch incubation?

and let me say those are some adorable chicks you have there. I am all about the chicks.

Dry hatch is pretty much as I just described in the post right before yours. Bill Worrell has a post on here somewhere about it that describes it much better.

After many hatches, confusion and scepticism (about dry hatching in my dry climate) I tried it. I have been tweaking it (at first I just could not bring myself to let it go that low)

Now I almost forget the eggs during incubating and hover over them at lockdown. It worked great. I will keep track of how well each hatch goes using this.

Thanks Kathy! How are your babies? Any midnight trips to the garage to make sure they are warm tonight? Mine were fine yesterday so I am going to pass tonight.

I have these sweeties right next to me and they aren't leaving my site! Their peeps are very relaxing.

My eyes almost popped out of my head when I candled for the first time and they were all fertile. I had to recheck. And I ordered some Light Sussex from her and she did it again, all 14 are developing. Totally unbelievably fertile shipped eggs. Whoohoo and hats off to Jane!

Hi Mahonri, I started it at 40% and let it dry down to 25. Sometimes it would hit 21. The humidity was always changing. I tried to never go over 50 but occasionally added a bit too much water. It always dried down quickly though.

On lockdown I upped it to 83% The Marans liked it, but I don't think the BLRW did as much. I think 70-75 would have been plenty for them.

I used my Genesis hovabator. and I got 20 out of 24 eggs to hatch. I did have to help a few out. But I think it was more due to big chicks who couldn't move as well. One got stuck, but when I helped it was only stuck a tiny bit and then out it came the rest was not sticky.

On post #10 I tried to describe it better. I am so tired I am not reading or typing well so if you need more questions answered just ask me in the am and I will do better then!

I love dry hatches they work great for me in FL with our high humidity.. Those chicks are too cute
