DS opened the incubator!!!!

Yep, I agree. They should be fine. I open mine all the time during the last 3 days because I usually stagger hatches. I agree with the momma hen getting up, I watched mine hatch out 2 eggs and she was up and down ALOT!

I sure hope it is okay. I thought I would wake up today to see some pips. Nothing. They will have been in the incubator 16 full days this afternoon. This is my first time hatching button quail. I will be so disappointed!

Just hang in there...

Sometimes they take just a little longer. Just forget about them for now and let them do their thing. Believe me, you will KNOW when there are chicks drying off in there.

Best hatch I ever had was one that happened while I was out camping. Came home to a whole passel of them in there!
Resist the urge to help them, too... I've had them pip, and take 2-3 days to hatch afterwards. Just be patient and leave them be.

Six babies have hatched!!!!

I hope to have a couple of more! Six out of fourteen is not too bad. None have hatched in the last couple of hours. Do you think that any more will hatch? Or does the hatch occur all at once for button quail. I know it took two days for the last set of chicken eggs to be completely over.

Quail usually all pop right out and are done but there's no harm in leaving the rest of the eggs for a day to make sure.

I had button quail still hatching on day 21 so don't give up yet! Also, beware - when you open the incubator, they will RUN out. We've learned from experience and built a wooden frame to put around the bator so we could catch them. They are not like chickens - that's for sure!

oops lol didnt read whole thread..LOL CONGRATS!

Don't end the hatch until you have 3 days without activity. I had a hatch of 50+ eggs start on Saturday, and didn't finish until the following Friday. Talk about nerve wracking!! Just find something to keep yourself occupied, leave the incubator shut (unless you're pulling out dry chicks)... you'll KNOW when there's one in there to be taken out. They let you know, loud and clear! LOL!
Congrats!!! Hopefully you'll have a lot more with the next hatch...

24 hours and no more activity! Getting ready to pull the six little guys out. My six kids have gone nuts over them!!!!!!!! Can't wait until the next hatch! Thanks Ms. AK-BirdBrain. (Love the name, by the way)
