Dual Purpose Breeding

I'm wanting to start creating my own dual purpose breed. I was thinking my foundation would be a small flock each of Cornish (roosters) with one flock having Ancona hens and the other RIR hens. But I'm not sure the Cornish is the rooster to start with if I want both meat and egg production in the end. Any other breed suggestions to encourage meat production? Or should I stick with what I have and do a lot very selective breeding?

I really have no idea how you would go about  it.  What features are you hoping to breed into your hybrids?

I'm trying for an end result of a chicken that will mature early enough and lay well enough to be a valuable egg producer while also having roosters that will be ready for the table around the same time frame. I understand that there are probably a lot of breeds out there that meet that goal but I feel like a lot of them are hybrids and not something that would breed true.
