Dubbing Game Birds

My son recently showed a BB Red Bantam at the county fair. The judge was really impressed with his rooster but said in order to be to standard, it must be dubbed. We knew this but didn't want to do it. We have two roo babies and are thinking about dubbing them since I heard it is less tramatic on youngsters.

Anyone have instructions on dubbing? Thanks.

If you dub too young, you will likely not cut enough, and may have to re-do it. I do not have gamebirds, but I have seen it done, and the only thing that seemed to slightly upset the birds was being closely held. Once freed they acted as if nothing had happened.
