I finallly broke down and bought some chicks at TSC.

I got 2 cornish cross (to compare to our dual-purpose meat roosters), 2 light brahmas, and 4 chicks from the assorted bantam bin. They only had a few left that were feather-legged, so I picked out these 4 hoping they were bantam cochins. I have been wanting to get some cochins to raise with my next batch of layers (buff orpingtons) so they can hatch out my layer's eggs. I have since realized that they are 3 mille fleur d'uccles, and 1 porcelain. So, do D'uccles go broody very often? Should I sell them and buy some cochins or keep these as my brooders? I hope at least two of them are hens! Here are the TSC chicks with a few EE mutts that I hatched as a test run in my Hovabator (12 chicks out of 15 eggs!) These pictures were taken a week ago, now that they have feathered out some more I am sure that they are D'uccles. I didn't get any close ups of the D'uccles though! If I get a chance I'll get a few updated pics of them and upload them this evening.

I had 3 mille fleur hens that went broody at the same time last year, and tag-team hatched & raised 20 chicks. It was the cutest thing ever!I am hoping they don't go broody this summer, since I need to hatch some eggs and not them!!

Thanks! Maybe I can find some extra room to keep them AND get some silkies or cochins...
