I'm in Indiana and mine do just fine here. No heat in the coop either. Plenty of snow. Yours should do fine in a mild climet.
 
I've been wondering too. Just tonite asked my DH if I could keep my 7 milles and 3 sebrights on the back porch this winter. It was really cold last year and some of the roos had combs with frost bite and several of the hens too.
My concern is...they are just so much smaller then the standards I fear they will get picked on if and when they have to stay in the coop and run only.
