Hi all! I’m Lydia from Wisconsin. I was on here years ago, but stopped logging on for about 5 years. I’m in Wisconsin and raise alpine goats and a variety of duck breeds.
I have been raising ducks for about 12 years. Started with 2 khaki hens and a drake. Have had a variety from various breeds over the years, and this year started incubating eggs.
My current flock consists of 1 khaki Campbell, 1 Rouen, 1 black runner, 1 welsh harlequin, 6 white stars, 1 Dutch hookbill, 4 Cayuga, and then my drakes are 2 blue Swedish and an Ancona. I also have 2 5 week old ducklings that are a mix of the above, and last week hatched 6 Ancona and 11 mixed ducklings.
I raise my ducks on home mixed corn and soy free organic food. They also have 10 acres they can free range (I have livestock guardian dogs to keep them safe).
I’m hoping to learn how to get better hatch rates. I’m planning to get into raising Anconas. I start my next batch (from shipped eggs) the end of next week.
