My ducks are getting so big!! With that being said I have more questions! Should I be keeping the heat lamp on them 24/7? They have been getting dirty fast from a wet cage so I have been letting them swim and bathe them in Dawn, is this okay? I am going to try the pan trick to keep theres cage from being so wet but what are some other tips as they grow?

Letting them swim is good but I would skip the Dawn it’s not necessary and not very good for them. They need those oils on them. I’d keep them heat lamp on them until their a little older. Maybe take it away when they’re getting too hot even with it pointed away some. Make sure they’re getting enough niacin. You can add some through nutritional yeast to their food. They’re precious ❤️

@HayleyCrum , ducklings need a temperature of 90-92 degrees for the first 3 days, then 85-90 degrees for days 4 to 7. After the ducklings are a week old, drop the temperature in their brooder by approximately 5 degrees per week. Direct heat from a heat lamp toward the floor of one side of the brooder so that they can move away from the heat if they get too hot.

As @Brooke_R wrote, let them bath in luke warm water but best to omit the dawn. They will clean themselves with their bills and spread their natural oil from their preen gland with their heads and bills
