We have a female perkin duck 6 months old about 4 or 5 days ago we noticed her left eye was shut and crusty looking and she wasnt acting right wobbling and then she starts having seizures it lasts about 15 secs flopping on her back then takes her a min to get her bearings and she seems fine for awhile 30 mins to couple hours. 2 days later her eye is open and looking better but still having seizures but not as bad. Couple days later after alot of rain we go out and find are 1 yr old turkey laying on ground not moving she will eat and drink and still lays egg but we tried to pick her up and she acts like her right leg is Injured or something. The joint where scales meet feathers looks swollen and her toes curl up and she flaps her wings but really wont put any pressure on either leg but she is pretty big and 1 leg might not support her to well. Any help is appreciated. Could the birds issues be related? I'll update with pictures later.

I am assuming that your turkey is a broad breasted turkey and probably has perosis.

Hi, Is a vet an option?

Hard to make a diagnosis on what may be causing the seizures without some diagnostic testing, many things can cause seizures, but at that age toxin ingestion, bacterial, neurological damage, or malnutrition would be the likely cause.

Maybe you could give us some more info about your setup, Is there anything toxic in your yard she may have eaten, screw's, staples, maggots, moldy feed, toxic plants, or animal carcasses, what is she being fed, has she had any problems in the past, do you have an open or closed flock, how do her poops look?

For now, she should be placed in a dimly lit, quiet, warm area inside the house to reduce further stress, and of course, provide food and water. It may be a good idea to put padding around the kennel to prevent further damage if she experiences another seizure.
