Why would my broody Muscovy eat a silkie egg that we put under her? She is sitting on one of her own plus another silkie egg that we put under her.Why would she choose to eat the one but leave the other? We know that her own egg is not fertilized but the silkie eggs have a good chance of being fertilized.Hoping that maybe she would hatch the silkie eggs. She actually carried the egg out of the nest and ate the whole thing!
We also have blue swedish hen that has always acted like a drake with the Muscovy. Now, the Muscovy is the dominate one and the Swedish practically bows down to her.The broody Muscovy has become quite aggressive...pecks at both the hens. Is it safe to keep her with the other two hens and a silkie rooster? She mainly is sitting in a roosting box while the others are out during the day.She comes out to bathe and eat on occasion.Thank you for any information you have with this odd behavior we are seeing
