We lost 4 of our 5 ducks from an attack the other night. (Guessing raccoons) And one has survived with a good bite on her back right beyond her neck. I have washed it with warm water and done blu kote three times, twice yesterday and once today so far. She seems to be drinking, has made some noise today and the wound looks better today, but maybe because it's less bloody. I can't tell if she's been eating any feed.

I've heard that maybe pain free neosporin is a good idea to apply and possibly and oral antibiotic? Someone recommended Tylan 50 which is an injection, which I have never done on any animal. Is there anything else you can recommend? We are trying home treatments to see if she'll survive. I can attach pictures of the wound that I took yesterday if people don't mind gruesome and if I can figure it out!

Any other tips or suggestions would be appreciated!

First, I am not familiar with ducks, only chickens. BluKote is only meant for slight scrapes or cuts. With that deep of a wound, get some Chlorhexidene (Hibiclens) at your pharmacy or Walmart first aid aisle to clean a(follow instructions on label.) If you have betadine use it with water and clean the wound. A kitchen sprayer is excellent for rinsing out dirt and bacteria once. Then use the plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic ointment once or teice a day. Clean off any wound drainage or pus before applying if it looks infected. Keep the duck separated and warm. Try to get it drinking water and offer food.
