So sorry for the injury of your duck. I hope full recovery for her. I had an opossum attack a flock of young chickens kept coming back until it killed them all. Tore the fencing off the coop and pried open the pop door.

Ugh, we’ve been missing eggs recently so I figured we had a rat problem.

Hello, and welcome to BYC. As others have said, possums are fully capable of killing poultry.

I’d like to believe my new runner drake defended her… he’s marvelous.

That poor duck, atleast it is safe and looks like it will heal up. The opossum looks young too might be why your duck is still alive.

I had to do live traps for a while. I also have my secruity cameras aimed at the coop better. I can see if one comes up on the camera and yell out at it. I also have found I have a fox issue with the cameras. I still do live traps in the warmer weather but I don't want an animal trapped over night in the winter time. I live in town and have lots of domestic animals also.

That's a given.
You need to make their enclosure fully predator proof.
