Duck attacked by fox penicillin shots

All I know is I cleaned the wound on my duck using water with ACV then removed feathers and skin with a vigorous brushing of the surface using light but firm enough motion with a 4 x 4 gauze soaked in hibiclens. We made sure the wound was clear and then I used wound seal to stop the bleeding, she was running pretty good. I put antibiotic ointment on it and let it air dry. After it was dry I sprayed it twice a day with vetricyn.

I did more on each successive day and several here at BYC propped me up when I was stuck or tired.

My duck is alive but spoiled...

Warm mash would be easier to digest than cold mash.

As for making your own saline, I wonder if canning salt would be best, b/c to my knowledge, it has no additives, while table salt has iodine in it, which is probably a non issue, but it also has non-caking agents in it. Also, most likely a non issue, but... I tend to wonder about these things.

You'd have to make it like water probably, and put small amounts in his bill just inside and let him swallow then put more in. Can't shoot it down the throat. Is he drinking? if you put some in his water will he drink it?

Other alternative is tube feeding.
