I have 2 drakes, they're 4 years old. They’re bonded males. This year has been awful. They’re all of a sudden extremely violent and aggressive. They’ve bitten me until I am bleeding. But the one has started attacking the other. Ripping his feathers out. I’ve tried to stop it and separate them but he continues to do it. I don’t know what to do anymore. I give them enrichment toys, and all sorts of things but nothing is helping. Any advice is appreciated. Ty

They are my only ducks, and have been my only ducks.
I was asking because I thought perhaps they were fighting over a female.

I suspect they are hormonal because of the increased daylight. You may have to separate them until their hormones calm down, for their own safety. Some people use see through barriers, like baby gates if they are inside or fencing if they are outside.

I have a female duck who we are reducing reproductive activity for health reasons. Her vet has us keep her on a 10 hour daylight schedule to trick her body into thinking it is winter year around. She will die if she makes eggs, and she's under veterinary care. I'm wondering if it works for females to stop egg production maybe it would also decrease hormones in drakes. I'm not recommending you do this, but maybe consider asking your avian vet if reducing daylight is something you could try.
