**Duck behavior/egg laying**

I was wondering if it is normal for a drake to not let another drake and hen by him. The drake seems to chase the other drake and hen away form him and his hen. Is this normal? o and also how long does it take after the ducks breed for the hen to lay a egg. The ducks are mallards

If it's mallard then I would say so, I see that behavior a lot around my local lake.

As to when the hen will lay, it is not really related to when they breed. It's more dependent on how much daylight she is getting. But more daylight also stimulates the males to want to breed, and the convergence of these two activites cause ducklings!!
