I have 2 Peking ducks around 3 months old. I have 3 welsh harlequin duclings around 2 weeks old. Yesterday I put them out in the back yard were the Peking ducks are. The Peking would charge after the ducklings, btw this is the only time my dog has chased them. Don't know if he was protecting the ducklings or just saw aggressive behavior from the big ducks. So i was always sitting near the ducklings and one of the pekings charged my son once and me another. Much like a billy goat ramming us. I never let them get to close the ducklings so I am not too sure what they would do.
So is this normal behavior in the sense of them trying to get a pecking order or do they just not like ducklings? We got the peking when they were probably 3 to 4 weeks old and they are little stand offish except when we are giving them treats. So it took me by surprise when they decide to pick a fit with me and my son.
It will be a little interesting when the ducklings get older. I am new to ducks and don't know much about their behavior especially towards young.
