Here is an odd question. Do ducks get boogers? What brought me to wonder this you ask? Lucy of course! Since I brought Lucy and Roan home I noticed Lucy clicks every now and then. I only noticed this because I sometimes rehab orphaned baby squirrels and the first thing we look for is clicking (means lung infection in squirrels). I was pretty sure it didn't mean that in ducks who drunk their faces in water from a young age so I decided it was nothing to worry about. I've had them about 2 weeks now and I believe they are right at 3 weeks old. This morning Lucy was breathing heavy and just sounded a bit off. I checked her over and she seemed fine but the breathing continued for over 30 min so I decided something was not right. I got her a deep bowel of water and she immediately started to dunk her head and clean her nasal passages. When she finished I could see something in her left hole. It looked like a bit of food water logged and stuck. I wiped her nose and that triggered a sneeze, and what was stuck popped half way out. I quickly wiped it off with a q-tip. Up close it doesn't look like food it looks like a booger. An even better question, can ducks have allergies? She does a lot more sneezing than Roan.
