Duck boredom

Hello everyone!
Happy New Year’s Eve! I’ve heard people using cabbage to help ducks prevent boredom. What do they do? Just put the cabbage head in the run, cut it in half? I have some and I don’t want it to go to waste.

Can they break down the leaves? I have always cut their food up, because they are spoiled
