Duck breeds

Recently I bought a days old duckling in the central meat market in Athens, Greece. They were sold as Easter decorations (...) and I felt sorry for them. However, it has exploded in size, is at ease with the household dogs, and we have decided to keep him/her. I tried to find out which breed it is, and he is similar to Swedish ducks or Pomeranian. How much more will he grow?

I'm not sure what breeds you have in Greece, but it looks like it could be a black Swedish. They grow to be medium sized ducks, about 7 pounds, easily double the size that yours is now. Mine are bigger than all of my chickens by at least a pound.

Many thanks! Is it necessary to get him a few companions, or is it okay to keep him by himself? I am professionally training stray dogs to be adopted, and sometimes I am housing up to 10 dogs. I think I have to build a separate pen for the duck(s)

Ducks are social and enjoy being with other ducks. Mine get pretty upset (and loud) if they are separated. If you only have two, your safest option would probably be to have 2 of the same sex. Good luck! Ducks are fun.

Some dogs are better with birds than others. My dog doesn't care about my chickens, but for some reason get's pretty excited at the idea of trying to catch a duck. A separate space for the ducks would definitely be safer and less stressful for them.

It almost looks like a cross breed with the speckled bill. Maybe Pekin and Black Swedish? Or something similar.
