I had two ducks that I had hatched after their mother was killed. Unsure what type, they looked like a Cayuga mix. Well one was killed and I need a friend for my lonely surviving duck. What duck breeds integrated well with others ? Also can I introduce an adult duck or should I raise a duckling?
Thanks in advance!

I’m sorry for your loss!

They look like black and blue Swedish.

In my experience it’s better to introduce adult ducks to each other, I’ve never had a duck that liked ducklings that weren’t theirs, and most of the time they haven’t even liked their own ducklings. Broody breeds like Rouens are more likely to be better parents but that’s another subject.
As for breed that’s really up to you and what you’re looking for, if you’re looking for better mothers, better layers, etc. Rouens, cayugas, and Swedes are very friendly breeds in my experience, but regardless of breed they’ll be characters, I haven’t encountered a boring duck!
