Duck Breeds

Ok let's go this route! What breeds are sweet and friendly?? Like to handled? My husband wants mallards but I don't know. Going to check out ducklings at my TSC tomorrow. They are aupposed to be getting some in. Anyone know what kind they usually get?

My thought is that any breed can be sweet and friendly depending on how they were raised. If they are handled a lot as ducklings they will be friendly as adults. Do you only want them as pets or for certain purposes like eggs? Some breeds are better egg layers than others, some fly. It depends on your wants and needs.

Pets mainly I would say. We have two ponds on our property and we'd love a few ducks. Never thought about duck eggs! Any suggestions??

The only breeds I have had are buffs, cayugas, and a magpie. All of them are very pretty but I have to say my magpie has the best personality. He is very friendly and he loves playing peek-a-boo with me :). That may be because he was raised as a lone duckling so he became very attached to me. The buffs were slightly more friendly than the cayugas.

They are 2 blue swedish and 2 black swedish
girls vs boys - you'll be able to tell in a couple of months when they either quack or have a raspy sound.
