Hello once again, Werburga has me back with more questions. I brought her out today for her swim while I changed out her old bedding. Long story short, nothing eventful happened, but once I was bringing her inside I noticed a red mark on her beak, then what appeared to be a grayish-green bit of swelling. (Please see attached images) I assume it's a nasty bruise, but I have no clue as to the possible cause. Our chickens were roaming around, so she *may* have had a confrontation with a curious hen...

Is this something to be concerned about? She's drinking and eating fine, but still pants heavily often- though, once we take her out of her enclosure and let her walk around, she's fine. I love her a bunch, but she's beginning to worry me😓 Please do let me know what you think

Sure looks like either a hen got her or she stuck her bill under or into something. The puncher would make me think hen. If you have some Veterycin you can use it the main thing is to protect from infection. Also, something like triple antibiotic ointment would work too.

one of my runners got her bill caught under a step-in fence post that has a little point like a tooth coming out from the bottom (i have since removed all the teeth from the posts) when she tried to escape it tore her bill open and she broke her leg while flailing about in panic.
Anyway, on her bill I used the blue hen healer stuff and it workd great. Her leg is all healed now too but thats another story. N.
ow I feel around with my fingers under fences and anywhere they can stick their little bills under . perhaps theres something sharp or pointy somewhere

They sure keep us on our toes
Glad your duck has healed

Hows the bump looking today @CloneFly
It's looking a bit better, thank you! She doesn't seemed bothered much by it, and the swelling has thankfully gone down as well. She still pants a bit, but seems to feel better once we take her put of her enclosure.
Now for the waiting game of "please be a girl"  lol...
