One of my hens has a pretty bad case of bumble foot, so i checked the rest of my ducks and i found out my 2 drakes have it too but it’s not that bad. Since they don’t have a scab how can i get the pus and stuff out? also, i can’t really tell if the rest of my flock have it very slightly too, or if that’s normal. i’ve been soaking their feet in warm water with iodine and epsom salt, applying wound ointment and iodine directly to their feet, and putting a soft cotton pad on the worst parts and wrapping it in vet wrap twice a day ever since i found out (3 days). I’ve been trying to get the scab off the best I can but only blood has come out. its my first time dealing with bumble foot, can anyone help? how much longer till it starts getting better?

Soaking with Epsom salt water is good. Sometimes there just isn’t anything that will come out. But that doesn’t mean we don’t treat. Sometimes on small bumbles without scans drawing salve will help. With the ones with scabs get the scab off and if there isn’t anything under but skin and blood use an antibiotic ointment and wrap like your doing. Bumble is really difficult to treat and can take a while so don’t give up. For the worse ones even oral antibiotics are used Baytril is the one we use most. All bird products sells it.
