Hi y'all! So I have two momma ducks sitting on nests. The problem is our ducks and chickens live together. My ducklings are due anytime the week of may 3rd I believe. MY QUESTION IS....... will the chickens try and kill the ducklings after they are born? Should I try and finish hatching the eggs myself by putting them in an incubator to keep them after? I'm so torn!

I would say the safest thing to do is to put the eggs in the incubator or separate the momma's because they will get defensive and possibly try and attack or kill the other chick/duckling. Just make sure they're in a safe and secure enclosure! Hope that helps! :wee

My ducks and chickens live together, some even hatch eggs together, so I don't think it will be a problem.

I wouldn't pull the eggs off a broody. I think in our effort to save babies we rob the bird of being a mom and I want to know that the birds I keep can do the job themselves. So many hens these days have lost an instinct to raise chicks/ducklings. Not a positive in my book. Now if the hen or duck is bad to hatched ducklings or chicks I'll remove them. Besides it's alot of work to raise babies give that job to mom.
