Hi all, my very favorite duck, Posh, a 4 year old khaki has been sounding a little raspy lately. She has plenty of energy and is eating well, but her quack sounds a bit off.

The mean drake has been pushing her away from the others. Can’t help but feel maybe she’s got a little something going on.

I have Vet Rx here, should I try to administer to her directly? And what’s the best way to do so without harm?

Many thanks as always to all your wonderful advice.

If you think she has something respiratory going on maybe an antibiotic would be better. Vet RX can be applied over the nares just don’t have it dripping into them under each wing and you can also put it in the drinking water the dose should be on the bottle.

So a drop or 2 just beneath the nares? I’ll try that. She seems otherwise well. Don’t want to panic as I always do and rush to the vet an hour away.

How many Drakes do you have? Possibly add in more water and food stations. Maybe she needs better access to water to clear her nares.
In the barn I keep 2 very large feeder bowls of water...about 3 gallons each.

I have 2 drakes to 10 girls.

Outside, I fill a 20 gallon kiddie pool with fresh water everyday and they have an additional 4 gallon fever bowl with water outside.

Their pond is still frozen, hopefully it will thaw soon.
