Anyone ever had a constipated duck? The other day, my hubby noticed one of our ducks was acting sluggish, and her belly was hanging lower to the ground than normal. She didn't lay an egg that morning, so we thought maybe she was egg bound. Brought her inside for a warm bath in the tub, and after a minute or so, out came three huge poops. One was so big it floated and looked like a toddler poop! After that, she started swimming around and seemed fine. The next day, she had laid an egg and is back to her usual self.

Seems odd for a duck to be constipated, considering how much water they drink. But she did do a ton of free-ranging that day, and I had to keep encouraging all of them to go back to their pen and clean their beaks. So I'm wondering if she just ate too much mud and didn't drink enough water?

Other than laying a fairy egg a few days ago, she seems to be doing fine. She just hatched last August (on my birthday :D), so it's her first year laying. Maybe her hormones are still a bit whacky. Hopefully it was just a one time thing. Just seemed weird for a duck to be constipated, but she is my most neurotic(special?) duck, so not too shocking that some crazy thing would happen to poor Ella. lol Thank you for asking!

Glad she's doing okay now!
