RE the bedding in their coop.
Right now they are in a large "brooder" area with their heat lamp still. Estimating they are just under a month old! Soon we will remove the lamp and give them access to the outside area.

However, we use chopped straw and ducks are VERY messy as we all know.

The straw is getting so wet and stinky as they splash their water around a lot and sometimes one of their water bowls even tips over. I know I can eliminate one of their water sources in there and just keep the water feeder next to their food and they should be okay, but any suggestions??

We clean their area out and re-put down new straw every day if not twice. Normal???

Deep layer of pine shavings. Straw just retains moisture and promotes mold growth. It also just gets matted down with moisture and poo into one massive chunk. Which is so fun to clean out.

Ducks are stinky and messy, especially in the brooder. Daily brooder bedding changes are normal. A no mess watered helps contain/limit the wet favor some. Just something out of your recycling will work. Cut a hole they can get their heads in but make sure there is a lid and they can’t climb in.
