Duck coop on the ground or raised?

I am going to build a simple coop for my ducks, but I don't know if I should place it one foot high above ground level, or on ground level (I've seen both). I have five KC hens that don't like climbing anything, but a pile of straw on the ground in the winter seems better than a raised floor.

If you don't have to worry about rotten wood then sit it on the ground ours is about a ft off the ground and the ramp is no problem at all.

The ramp is 2’

across and we put roofing shingles on it for traction. Works great.
