Hi
I have two ducklings, one looks like a Rouen, the other is a sort of brown Blue Swedish.
I have 2 drakes:
-Khaki Campbell
-Blue Swedish
And 3 hens who are:
Rouen
Blue Swedish
(Also a domestic harlequin and a blue Swedish who may be a cross, but they’re both 5+ years old and don’t frequently lay)

I’ve crossed my khaki Campbell with the older blue Swedish in the past and the duckling looked just like the one I’ve got now (albeit a little darker) so I’m thinking he’s the dad.
The Rouen on the other hand just resembles a Rouen, so I’m not sure who the dad is. Probably the khaki Campbell?
What are your thoughts?

Assuming the Blue Swedish are pure breds then the Rouen looking duckling is from the Khaki drake and the Rouen hen. He is also a drake as this is a sex-linked cross. Girls would look similar but would show sex-linked brown. These are Dutch Hookbill ducklings of mine with similar genetics and brown. See how much browner they are?

The other duckling is more difficult. If the Swedish is the drake, any of the hens could be the mom as most of the Swedish traits are dominant. If the Khaki is the drake then the hen must be one of the Swedish and your baby is a boy. So, if this duck ends up being a girl, then you know she is not half Khaki. If she had a Khaki dad she would look like this Khaki x Silver Swedish (lilac, I think) of mine:

She has brown and blue.
I hope this helps!

The Rouen looks to be growing in the female head patterns though. Is there a certain age where this will change? They're roughly 4 weeks old now.

My older hen must definitely be a cross then, because my previous khaki/blue Swedish hen looked like that and was a hen.

Wild type or Mallard (the color Rouens are) drakes and hens start out with very similar patterns at this age. If it quacks, it is a girl. If it sounds like it is loosing its voice, drake.

But it looks like they’re growing in light feathers with the dark stripe around their eye. Would these be replaced with the green or dark brown feathers at a certain point?
