Duck days

When you look like your pets: lol so I’m having daughter “Paige” in 14 days And it’s funny how my waffle and i resemble each other even down to the waddle walk!

That sounds about like my routine but without the brewers yeast , I didn’t know enough about it ? Do I need it ?

They have slowed down eating some compared to a few wks ago.
I refill their container twice a day (usually about 2/3 full) and they always have leftovers. They are on starter/grower with added Brewers yeast and they get meal worm treats every afternoon. Other treats they get once a day, usually in place of the meal worms, are grapes, watermelon and we recently found out they LOVE tomatoes!

You should leash train them and take them for walks-imagine the looks you would get then

! And honestly lmfao I would except I didn’t get the OK from landlord or HOA where I live and you never know some people get jealous and have not better to do then tattle so I keep them on the DL

How I got my ducks : so unfortunately I throwing my husband under the bus , we had company And my son had been asking for birds , I had ZERO desire for ANY pets !!!!!! He thought it would just be a fling I suppose and then had planned to give them to his friend who owns a ranch. Well he initially bought 4 chicks and 2 ducks , WAFFLE AND EGO. Because I’m pregnant and i craved waffles/egos this pregnancy . An d I would tell WAFFLE your the sweeeeeetessst thing , it reminded me of eating waffles so Hints the name waffle. Well the day after getting all the birds which i was super pissed here I am about to have my second child and just moved into house last thing I wanted was more responsibly ! We woke up to ego dead the chicks had pecked him to death , ego was the tiniest duck I had ever seen ! Me not being as observant my son said he had noticed the chicks the night before pecking him , so I started reading and found out they had murdered my EGO due to stress!!!!!! I was NOT having it ! I had still had them in the cardboard box from tractor supply so they were stressed , well now I’m stuck what do I do ! So we started with small brooder box I thought it would be cute to have them around the yard until I figure out what to do. Well day by day I felt obligated to protect them , and I started to fall in love with my little waffle , I knew I wanted to rid the chicks still so I found a place for them but I just couldn’t let this duck go ! So I planned on getting waffle company , well legally they only sell ducks in pairs so we had 3 now I said well I’ll find a home for 1 of the new ones , well over the days they all started having unique behaviors , so here we are , with a duck reservation in our back yard ! I almost feel like a real rancher lol !!!!! It has been such hard work to keep them safe and happy me being pregnant And overly protective I would stay up countless hours during the night holding them and caring for them , cleaning their areas was a pain , especially at the end of my pregnancy ! But sooooooo rewarding this experience hasn’t been . I don’t know what I would be doing without my favorite girls , they stole our hearts and now they are like family . I will always warn someone when they try to get birds for fun during easter holiday ! but I’m glad it happened to me , I took charge and I feel we’ve done a wonderful job . Now we can send message that these are not easter decorations !!!!! This may offend some people but we really didn’t know , my husband just thought it would make my son happy , but he has done such an amazing job as well helping learn and tend to our flock. We love our girls!

Awww lol yes my khaki is timid And more edgy than the others but I think she is prettiest ! Thanks for sharing , share more stories !

Congrats on daughter! Waddle walks are cute. I wonder if ducks get jealous of new siblings like dogs and cats do?
