Duck dealings

DUCKS are the best!!!!! get some!!!!! They are social and enjoy life so much every day is a happy one to a duck!!!!! I started with 2 and now have 60 or so... Not hard to take care of food and water a baby pool to swim in In fact Im getting a new breed in the spring Dutch hookbills !!! feed the addiction

How loud are ducks? Does it depend on the breed?

WOW they are nice looking calls. I need to get 2 female whites and 2 male snowy's and a couple of male greys but I have some pastel males that I need to find either mates to or new homes.

So how loud are ducks compared to chickens? My neighbors have been very understanding so far about the chickens and goats, I just don't want to push it by adding something else that is very noisy.

If your worried about noise Muscovys are good they just hiss no quacking exellent mothers and will try to hatch rocks if u let them I find them a bit ugly ( sorry scovy lovers

) or Just get a couple males they are quiet.... Its the loud mouth hens that are the issue !!!!!! MY saxony are rather quiet for hens but Calls OMG they are loud loud loud and talk to hear themselfs quack.

Also..... Mandrians are quiet but need a covered pen and will fly away if given a chance and will never be really social with people very shy

Common Shelducks are quiet to...... Covered pen or clipped flight feathers are a must.... A bit more social with people then the mandies..... But would prefer to be left alone....


If your looking for a duck that loves to be around people will eat out of your hand Saxony are by far the most friendly!!!!! Mine love people and all 15 of them will greet you and if u sit on the ground with them they will sit next to u or crawl in your lap for a snuggle.

LOL about the calls quacking to hear themselves quack, get 2 or 3 together and they try to outdoo each other1 The males don't join in.
