Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.

Sounds strange I know but my female duck was dragging her behind on the ground and then starting flapping her wings. She went and laid down under a bush. She seems fine now and is up and around with the others. I picked her up and there is nothing wrong that I can see. I tried feeling around there to see if i could feel an egg that may be stuck but I really could not feel anything...not that I would know what I was looking for though.
My ducks have not been laying eggs until this morning. I found one in the kiddie pool when I emptied it this morning. There are 3 females and I do not know which one layed the egg. Any ideas of what may be going on with her?
