Duck driving me crazy spitting out food!

So my precious little KC is driving me crazy with her eating habits. She spits like half of the food out on the floor which has led to a problem with rats as it's hard for me to find it all. My male Pekin takes nice dainty bites-no news at all. Feed is fresh in the morning. Anyone have any idea as to why she might do this? The chickens throw there food in he ground but at last they clean it up!

I've had good success with wettin the food to a soft cookie dough-like consistency. They eat more, and since I feed them outside, I can hose away any mess they do make
