Duck Duplex

We got 8 male magpies summer of 2010. They got along well until this spring when the testosterone kicked in. We ended up dividing them into two groups and built a duplex for them. Now they spend the days together but separate into their two groups for bedtime.

That's such a cute house they have! Any reason you have all boys though?

We got the ducks so that the dogs could have some herding practice and a job. It was our first time with ducks and I worried that the dogs might be too energetic for female ducks. As it turns out the dogs are very gentle with the ducks, and they are all doing well together.

So good to read about this! I've wondered sometimes how "boys' clubs" work.

Love the duplex. Have to show the carpenter in the family....I am sure he will be thrilled at the prospect. We now have two duck houses - one for drakes and one for hens.
