Duck Egg Colors...Your Input Needed

Swede eggs aren't actually always blue they start out pretty dark blue/green and fade to white... three years of hatching and collecting have shown the variety throughout the season

Friendly Correction: For the Golden 300's, usually they lay pure white eggs but every once in a while we get a blueish egg. So instead of laying white w/ a hint of blue, they lay white and sometimes blue

Also, ours has laid an egg every single day since she started at 17 weeks (around there) old. Our Black swede lays 5-6 a week.

Got it! Thank you.

My Khaki Campbell's eggs are always a very pure white, and they have "rifling" (like the marks left on a bullet from a gun with a grooved barrel). Maybe that last part is just a thing my duck does, but from what I've seen Khaki eggs are white-white like a piece of paper.

Raven...I have no idea of the bullet reference. I'm going to have to ask DH what that means!

But I will make a note of the pure white...thank you!

I'll just take it off the list then. And I'm SURE I am missing a whole bunch of other duck breeds. Still learning.

Appleyards lay white. Most Saxonys lay white, but I had one (sold to an other BYC'er this fall) who always laid a minty green.

Okay...I'll make a note. Also...Saxony is on my list to get, so I will be pleased to get some that lay a minty green egg! Thanks for your input. So everyone knows...I truly appreciate what feedback you all give to this thread.

Hopefully other newbies will benefit from this.
