Duck egg found on sidewalk

He's chirping still so, I think he is okay. I'm hoping for the external piping to start tomorrow, if that is a healthy time frame ? Can't wait until I just know everything is
okay.

Hi && Welcome!!!

Hello all! My duckling has not made any progress in external piping. It's been over 24 hours and I can not get humidity above 65%. I read somewhere to put a damp cloth on the egg, is that okay? I thought that would chill it. He sounds weaker, I can still hear him chirping but no tapping. Help please, thanks Katie

:welcome I've just read through your thread, very touching story. I really hope he makes it. :hugs
I've looked up some old thread, I know nothing about incubation. I found this posted, "Duck eggs take ages to hatch, so I don't think any duck hatch would ever be over in just 24 hours." I really hope that is the case.

Oh wait, I've just found another thread. This one seems to suggest that you can help the duck hatch if it's having problems on its own... also they said that you can put a little water on the egg to help things along, but don't open the incubator too often as that will let the humidity out. Good luck.

Well, I hate to share this terrible news with all of you but about an hour ago he was not moving or making any noise so I popped a small hole to help him, still nothing so I opened enough to see his beautiful face and he was no longer with me :(. I am absolutely devastated! I just want to kick myself in the butt for not helping him earlier this morning. Thank you all for your help, Katie

Oh no!!!! I'm so sorry mate, I was dying to see a pic when it hatched. Well.....you did what you could, which is better than most. Chin up.
