Duck egg question

How long do I need to wait to see if my duck egg is fertile. Is candling the best way to check?

Yes, by 7 to 10 days of incubation the embryo is present as are veins.

Just checked mine last night, all eight are duds. I set another twelve. I know he's been mating with the ducks!
