Duck Egg Quiche

1 question before I tell you what happened.

Did my quiche look like a Pecan Pie to you guys?

Anyway...he came home and said Oh something smells nice. Looked under the cloth and said Oh Pecan Pie, Ill have a big piece with my coffee
I said No its not Pecan Pie its Quiche
Quiche...whats Quiche?
so I told him....the bright eyed look dissapeared from his eyes.
I gave him a slice..he took 1 mouthfull and said ITS OK......thats my hubbys way of saying he doesnt like it
I forget sometimes hes a corn fed Iowa Farm Boy and if it doesnt look like steak, chicken or pork chops with potatoes and veg well.....its DIFFERENT
He doesnt like Mexican, Chinese, Indian food, had NEVER eaten Lasagna untill I married him, or Spaghetti or chilli.
So he eats 2 mouthfulls and says YUCK!!!!!!!

, Emma (boxer dog) you wont like this baby girl.
I lifted his plate, put it on the floor and Emma ate it in 2 seconds flat.
Half hour ago he asked...Whats for dinner?
Without batting an eye lid i said.....Heat something up out the freezer or there is cerial!!!!!!!
Guess I wont be making him Quiche ever again.

My husband says the same. It's Ok means it sucks.

I would not give up on quiche. There are so many different recipes out there and not all have sausage in it. Just try another one, and make your own crust. Commercial crusts are sweet and that can kill the entire thing.

Oh it wasnt what was in the Quiche. I could make it 60 different ways and he would still turn his nose at it.. Me...Im eating it just now. I like mine cold with cold bakes beans...lovely.
Im British so was brought up with quiche..hubby is American and you would of thought I had gave him goats eye balls for his dinner.

AAAhhh, so sorry to hear his reaction was not great. I too have a culinary unadventurous other half. Men, eh!

For all the things he won't eat (and I like) I just invite people over to share with me! Get a girlfriend to come over for lunch and share the rest of that quiche with a bit of salad - I'm sure she will appreciate it, it looked really lovely. btw I am British too, but still here in Blighty. British men can be so "meat and 2 veg" and preferably light on the veg, lol

It looked delicious! What did you think? I only have drakes, so no duck eggs, but I have a dozen fresh chicken eggs from my "girls" that I need to use!

BTW, when I went to England a few years back, our hotel had a breakfast buffet and I had beans on toast every morning, so good. And I love me some marmite!

Oh I agree! Don't get discouraged now, just when you're beginning to get creative & adventurous -- and successful! -- with your cooking! I think it's great that you had that spark of inspiration and had the ambition to follow it through to such a beautiful & delicious conclusion.

When I make something good that others in the family turn their noses up at, I just say "great, that's more for me!" and point them to the freezer or cereal shelf or PBJ fixings.

I hate to say this, but it doesn't matter one bit if hubby didn't like it. Did YOU like it?

If so, make it when you have girlfriends over or go to pot lucks. Phhoooey on hubby's lack of adventure.

Tell him you would have made pecan pie but were afraid he wouldn't like it and you didn't want to waste his time
