Duck egg turning gray

Hey I need some advice. It seems as though one of my mallard duck eggs have turned a bit gray. It doesn’t smell. I tried canceling it and it looks like it is about to hatch but it still have another 5-6 days to go. Any advice?

Can you also post a picture next time you candle? I think those with incubation experience might be able to help if they can see what's going on inside! I hope all is well with your egg.

Take it out and candle it in a dark room like a bathroom, If it isn't near day 20 and you don't see any movement or veins then i'd throw it out, You don't want it exploding in the incubator, That could kill the rest of your eggs.

Ok I’ll take it to a darker room. It is currently on day 23

Try and get us another pic from the dark room if possible. I know it might not be easy.

If it's on day 23 you should be able to see some veins and the silhouette of the duck, If it's foggy and you can't see anything moving then toss it.

About four of my duck eggs went grey after 28 days of incubation and they were bad. So as others have said just try candling and if they don’t hatch within 3 or so days then remove them.

When an egg goes dark it means the egg is rotten. At least this is my experience with hatching! I have had eggs explode inside my incubators and trust me it wasn't pretty! My incubators would smell for months! And the clean up was gross. I suggest candling it to see any movement. If no movement is present, I suggest throwing it away!
