I have a 4 year old (2012) RCOM 20 PRO incubator that has always worked without any problems.
I am on Day 7 with 8 duck eggs, temp steady at correct 99.5% , humidity was 45% RH on Day 1 then 55% and now a steady 68-69% for Days 3-7. Manufacturer recommends 45-55% for water fowl.
I tried to manually decrease %H to 45 % but machine stays on 68%.
Water level fine so have not added more water today, esp since humidity high.
When I briefly opened lid, the humidity started to decrease, then increased back to 68% with lid closed, so it appears humidity sensor IS working.
Is it safe to leave lid opened just a bit to lower humidity, or too risky to control properly?
Since it is in a controlled, sealed environment, should outside weather cause changes? NY temp has been 60s-76 degrees, low humidity. Room temp about 73-77 degrees F, room humidity 33%.
